What these terms cover
These terms apply to decawise.ca and to the free consultations booked through it. Decawise is a technology and data consulting practice based in Edmonton, Alberta. It is a registered trade name of Daniel Kurian, who operates it as a sole proprietor. “I” and “me” mean Decawise, and “you” means anyone using the site or booking a call.
By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. How I handle personal information is covered separately in the privacy policy.
Free consultations
The 30-minute call offered on this site is free and comes with no obligation on either side. It is a chance for me to understand what is slowing your business down and for you to decide whether I am the right fit.
- Anything you tell me about your business during the call stays confidential. I use it only to think about your problem and, if you ask, to prepare a proposal.
- Ideas and suggestions I give during a call are general. They are not tailored advice until we have agreed on a project and I have looked at the details properly.
- I may decline a project if I do not think I am the best person to help. When that happens, I will say so plainly and, where I can, suggest someone who is.
Paid projects
Nothing on this website is an offer or a quote. Before any paid work begins, I send a written proposal setting out the scope, timeline, price, payment terms, and who owns what is built. The project starts once you accept it.
If anything in a signed proposal or agreement conflicts with these terms, the proposal or agreement applies.
The service descriptions on this site explain the kind of work I do. They may change as my practice evolves, and they do not limit or expand what a specific proposal covers.
Articles and code samples
The blog, the service pages, and everything else on this site are written to be useful, but they are general information. They are not legal, financial, accounting, tax, or security advice for your particular situation.
Some articles include code, prompts, or step-by-step instructions. You are welcome to use them in your own work. They are provided as they are, without support, so test them on a copy of your data before you run them on anything that matters. Some articles mention specific tools or models; those change quickly, and what was accurate when I wrote it may not be accurate when you read it.
You may quote short passages from my articles and link to them, as long as you credit Decawise and link back to the original. Please do not republish whole articles without asking.
Case studies and results
The case studies describe real work and real outcomes. Figures such as page weight, Lighthouse scores, or cost savings were measured at a specific time and for a specific business. Your results will depend on your own systems, data, and circumstances, and I cannot guarantee that a similar project will produce the same numbers.
Named clients appear with their permission. Some examples are anonymized: names and identifying details have been removed, and they are described only in general terms.
Who owns what
The text, design, code, and graphics of this site, including the Decawise name, wordmark, and lion logo, belong to Decawise. Client names, logos, and screenshots of client websites belong to those clients and are shown with their permission. Third-party product names belong to their owners.
Ownership of the work I do for clients is set out in each project's agreement, not here.
Using the site fairly
Please do not:
- use the contact form or booking tool to send spam, sales pitches, or anything unlawful,
- try to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site or the services behind it,
- scrape the site to harvest email addresses or build marketing lists, or
- present my content, case studies, or results as your own.
I may block access, ignore submissions, or cancel bookings that break these rules.
Other websites and tools
The site links to and uses services I do not control, including Cal.com for booking, LinkedIn, and the live websites of clients. Their own terms and policies apply when you use them, and I am not responsible for their content or availability.
Warranties and liability
I work to keep this site accurate and available, but I provide it as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. I cannot promise that it will always be online, free of errors, or up to date.
To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for any loss or damage of any kind, whether direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential, that comes from using this site, relying on its content, or acting on anything discussed in a free consultation. That includes lost profits, lost data, and business interruption. You use the site, its content, and any free advice at your own risk.
Liability for paid projects is covered by the agreement for that project. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that the law does not allow to be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If a disagreement comes up, I would much rather sort it out in a conversation, so please email me first. If it cannot be resolved that way, it will be handled by the courts in Edmonton, Alberta.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Updates to these terms
I may update these terms as the site or my practice changes. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed. The version in place when you use the site is the one that applies.
